Audio Clean-Up & Restoration
Whether it’s an important interview, a treasured music recording, a home video, or any other piece of audio needing improvement, we will apply our audio clean-up skills to the same level of care and attention as we would for a feature film. Using specialist noise-reduction software, we will reduce background noise and artefacts such as static, crackle, and hum, improving the overall listening experience of the dialogue, music track, or other audio recording.

Magnetic Film Digitisation
Audio data printed onto magnetic film was the main method of storing and playing back the soundtrack of film for many years. It is still an important part of the archival process, as many pieces of cinematic history are currently stored away on their original magnetic film reels. Our Magnetec film chain is hooked up to our state-of-the-art DaVinci Resolve system, allowing us to turn any 16mm or 35mm magnetic film into a high-quality digital file for modern playback and archival use.

Time-Stretching &
Frame Rate Conversion
In the confusing world of broadcast specifications and DCP requirements, a film may need to be sped up or slowed down to play at a certain festival or be broadcast on TV. At Music and Effects, we have specialist software which stretches or shrinks the audio according to specific algorithms, resulting in smooth and pitch-accurate dialogue, effects, and music, ready to be re-mastered at the new frame rate.

File Conversion
As we continually upgrade and advance our technological resources, many of our older machines and tools are kept in running order, and still come in handy for archiving and preservation. We have systems which can play older audio technology such as magnetic film, DATs, audio cassettes, and many other formats, which we can digitise for use on a computer.
